How may I get to this museum from Scope Arena/Battleship area? Ive gone to the HRT website and put in the starting and ending address but nothing comes up. Also, I am not interested in using taxis, uber nor the like. Thanks for the help!

We don't have a car and I really don't want to use Uber nor the like
Three years ago I tried to visit the Fort Eustis museum. Although I had a British passport as photo ID, I was searched and excluded as an alien. The Museum website did not then, and does not now, point out that foreign visitors will be kept out, unless they have a serving military sponsor who is present on site and is willing to accompany them during their visit. As I have visited the museum twice before in the last thirty years I recognise the quality and interest of the exhibition.

that's terrible. I'm not a representative of the museum and I'm pretty sure that I Ve taken for granted me having a military ID card. I also have foreign exchange students who have been to the museum without me. they go into the civilian inspection station, receive a day pass, and viola...a day at the museum and bowling alley and food places and post office and the beach. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience.
do you have to have a military ID to visit the museum? if not, is there a different entrance for those without one?
A:
You don't need a military ID. It is open to the public. They would however search your car before letting you enter the base. The museum is inside the military base.

The museum is free as I recall. There is an inside and an outside part of the museum. There are a lot of cool vehicles (and big!) in the outside area and those are under a roof (open sides) so you could even go look at them if it is raining. Hope this helps. Cheers, BARBARA RANSOM
