Does anyone have advice on which part of Miraflores is best to live in? I’ll be moving there in June and am wondering if it’s better to be near John F. Kennedy Park, which seems very bustling, or if it’s better to be out a bit. I like having restaurants, cafes, gyms etc. in walking distance, but I also like the idea of being near the water and a green area. My budget is $1100.

Hi Sara I stayed at casa Bella Mira Flores. I went through Expedia. there were travelers from all over. they exchanged ideas on travel. Breakfast was good. there was lots of lovely art on the walls. it had a No My atmosphere. I hired a private guide and he customized a tour for me. He was English speaking. he made my trip the best day ever. his name is Oliver Stannman. he is a photographer and writer. and all around the best guide I have ever had.
What area would you recommend to stay if you wanted to see the real Lima? I'm not too excited about a Miami look either Let me know Thanks MArtin

You are from Seattle. I live in Seattle and I'm Peruvian living decades in Lima. With that in mind, be sure when I'm saying that the capital of Peru isn't like Miami's touristic waterfront (if that is what do you mean). When you say Lima, you are talking about the biggest city in Peru. If you mean Lima Square, called "El Centro de Lima", I suggested you to pay a tour visit to this area but stay in other districts. Miraflores and Barranco districts will serve you well but if you are on a budget, said so to suggest other places. You might need to clarify what "the real Lima" means to you to guided you better. Count with a trusted local to avoid the murky waters of certain parts of Lima Square is a must if that is what you are attempting. I'm an adventures person being everywhere in Lima long ago on my young years. Now, I won't do it without the right backup. So, you let me know what are you after to try to help you!
