South Korea to Change Airport Design After Deadly Jeju Air Crash
South Korea will extend runway safety areas and redesign infrastructure after the crash of a Jeju Air Co. flight last month that killed almost everyone on board, sparking criticism that the design of the airport might have exacerbated the accident.
South Korea's Jeju Air to pause B737 freighter flights
Jeju Air (7C, Jeju) will suspend its B737 freighter flights between February 2 and March 29, 2025, the Yonhap News Agency reported citing sources from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The suspensions follow the crash of a passenger-configured B737-800 at Muan on December 29, 2024.
The transport ministry instructed nine low-cost carriers to improve safety standards and avoid prioritising cost-cutting.
The missing data deepens the puzzle of what caused the deadly air disaster in Muan, South Korea, late last month.
