Franchise Group, which owns American Freight, announced it is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be shuttering all of the furniture store's 328 locations.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A national furniture chain with multiple stores in West Michigan is shutting down after its parent company filed for bankruptcy. American Freight’s parent company Franchise Group, Inc. on Nov. 3 commenced Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, according to court documents.

A furniture and appliance store is closing all of its locations across the United States, including four in Colorado. Closing sales began last week.

The store closing announcement comes days after American Freight's parent company announced restructuring as part of a bankruptcy filing.

And the latest furniture news comes from American Freight, a national retailer that’s shutting down all of its stores, as its parent company, Franchise Group, continues Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. American Freight has a dozen stores in North Carolina, including one in Raleigh.

Liquidator Hilco Consumer-Retail announced the shuttering of 328 locations nationwide and the start of store-closing sales.

Store closing sales have begun in-store and online, with discounts of up to 30% off the lowest ticketed prices.

A popular furniture store is closing more than 300 locations nationwide, including one in Austin. The Ohio-based chain American Freight is shutting down 30 locations in Texas, including its lone Austin storefront in northwest Austin at The Shops at Anderson Arbor.

An Ohio-based furniture retailer is shutting down for good, closing doors at all locations across the nation. As it closes, the company promises slashed prices and deep discounts as they work to get rid of inventory.
