For a second day in a row, several school districts across Northern Virginia and Maryland have adjusted their schedules due to below-freezing temperatures and icy road conditions. On Jan. 22, temperatures across the region continued in the low teens with wind chills dropping into the negatives.

A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday for Washington, D.C., and portions of Maryland, and northern Virginia.

Very cold wind chills around zero to five below for most of the WJZ viewing area. Areas with highest impact will be Central, Northeast & Northern Maryland... along with the District of Columbia and into Northern Virginia.

Bitterly cold temperatures will persist across the area tonight into Thursday. After sunset, temperatures will quickly drop into the lower teens and single digits, with overnight lows ranging from near zero to 10 degrees above in many locations.
