While Point’s last-minute goal is what everyone will remember, the Lightning won the game in front of the net in other ways. Their first two goals were scored on rebounds of shots flung on net by Darren Raddysh, who became the quickest Lightning defenseman to 50 career points with two primary assists.

Brayden Point scored the game-winner in the final minute to give Tampa Bay a 3-2 win, snapping their four-game losing streak.

Brandon Hagel got the Lightning on the board with 3:22 left in the first period, his18th goal of the season coming in front of the Carolina net. Defenseman Darren Raddysh floated a backhand shot from the right half of the offensive blueline, and Hagel’s second rebound rip went through Kochetkov for the 1-0 lead.

In order to snap their season-long four-game losing streak, the Lightning needed to navigate through a tight-checking, closely contested game against a quality opponent. They did it, thanks to strong defensive work in all three periods and a dazzling play made in the third period’s final minute.

Nikita Kucherov found Point cutting to the slot where he received the pass and spun around to his forehand to snap a shot past Pytor Kochetkov on the winning goal.
