The smoke and CO alarm is finally coming to the Home app, along with increased functionality for smart locks connected to Google Home via Matter

You can now manage your Nest Protect alarms in Google Home, get alerts, and even silence them with a tap. The Google Home app also now offers more control over Matter-certified smart locks, including creating/editing passcodes, setting access levels, and tracking who has access and when.

If you've got a Nest Protect smoke and CO detector, now's your chance to fully integrate it with your Google Home setup.

Google Home's Public Preview environment is preparing to deliver an update that expands support, features, and device control. Enrolled testers will soon experiment with third-party Matter support for smart locks and the addition of Nest Protect CO/smoke alarms.

Starting in the Public Preview, the Google Home app is finally adding support for the Nest Protect, as well as Matter-certified smart locks.
