Independence police officers initiate car chases more frequently than any other police department in the Kansas City metropolitan area, a Star investigation found this year.

An 18-year-old was arrested this weekend after allegedly leading Memphis Police on a chase in a stolen Toyota. On Saturday at 6:35 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery call at the Mobil Gas Station located in the 800 block of S.

The alleged kidnappers forced the victim into a home, held him at gunpoint, tied him up, and blindfolded him before robbing the residence. A police chase started when the suspects got pulled over as they were leaving.

Three teens were arrested in Nashville following a car chase over a vehicle stolen in an earlier carjacking and linked to robberies.

A Fort Worth police pursuit of an alleged car theft suspect ended in a chase on foot Friday afternoon. Around 4:30 p.m., officers located a vehicle previously reported stolen. When the officers attempted to stop the car, the driver did not comply, initiating the pursuit, a department spokesperson said.

Two carjacking suspects are in custody after police say they crashed their stolen car while trying to escape officers in Gwinnett County.
