California's deadly wildfires could come to an end in the coming days when a weekend storm douses historically dry terrain, but the storm will come with the potential for a different problem: flash floods.

On Friday at 2:36 p.m. an updated winter storm watch was issued by the NWS Las Vegas NV valid from Saturday 10 a.m. until Monday 10 p.m. The watch is for Eastern Sierra Slopes of Inyo County, Owens Valley and White Mountains of Inyo County.

The winter storm next week is expected to dump up to 8 inches of snow in some areas and create hazardous road conditions in New Orleans, the northshore, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, with freezing temps for days.

Storm Eowyn brought strong winds and heavy rain to Sussex this morning. Trees were brought down and there was some travel disruption due to the blustery conditions. A yellow weather warning from the Met Office is still in place for the county until 3pm today and it will be followed by a yellow warning for rain on Sunday and Monday.
