Dec 23, 2023 · Recently I have bought a Samsung T7 Shield 4TB SSD drive. I would like to protect the data on this particular drive. I wouldn’t mind if it’s with a password or encryption. As long it has some protection which is reliable. Reliable as in for instance it doen't depend on software updates for it to open up.

So an 8TB should be faster, but the largest increases are usually seen going from the smallest size (256GB/512GB) to the next (1TB/2TB) and then it starts to drop off as you get in the 4TB/8TB range.

BUT. every model has pins for the old Apple SSD adapter. Seems like you just have to solder on the adapter and use a nvme adapter for upgrading your own SSD just as in the older models.

Mar 11, 2022 · My storage setup will be: 2TB built into Mac Studio for files, music, photos, projects, etc. 4TB SSD - no specific use yet will use for Carbon Copy Cloner folder backups and maybe photos if the library grows too large. 8TB SSD - Media drive for TV Shows, Movies, and Plex. 8TB SSD - back up all other drives.
